What I Learned about the Freckle in my Palm

Do you have a freckle on the palm side of your hand? Here's what this palmist learned about the freckles on her palm! | PeggieArvidson.com

Freckles appear to remind us of something deeply important to our soul’s journey.

They show up to get our attention – even if you rarely look at your hands, odds are good that you’ll  notice a freckle on the palm of your hand. Want to read more about freckles in the palm? Check out this post, and this post, and this one too!

According to Wikipedia:

Freckles can be found on anyone no matter their genetic background; however, having freckles is genetic and is related to the presence of the dominant melanocortin-1 receptor MC1R gene variant.[2] The formation of freckles is triggered by exposure to sunlight. The exposure to UV-B radiation activates melanocytes to increase melanin production, which can cause freckles to become darker.

Why then, are there freckles that appear on the palm of the hand?

I found a freckle on the palm of my hand while I was in college.  It sat right below the first (Jupiter) finger of my left hand. And it stayed there until I started learning hand analysis not long before my 40th birthday.  I can still see the remnants of it if I look hard enough.

The Jupiter Mount freckle was a reminder to own my own power and to step up to lead on my own terms – both at work and in my personal life.  Jupiter is all about Power, Vision, Leadership, Guidance and Empowerment.

Jupiter is a dominant zone in my hands. I’m also the owner of a Jupiter Star on both hands as well as a Teacher’s box.  When Jupiter’s needs are not being met, the owner of all this “Jupiter energy” can become antagonistic, bombastic, and bossy (among other lovely qualities).  It’s really interesting to me to note that every time we blame someone (or something) else for the issues we’re having in our life, we are giving our power away. (if you want to learn more about the meanings of your fingers, read this, and this!)

Power give-aways were a way of life for me back then, but I couldn’t see it. Instead my life just seemed full of “shoulds” and “have-tos.”

For example, at the time that I started studying this freckle more closely – after my college career had ended, I truly believed that:

  • I had to work at the soul-sucking job to make money to pay my mortgage for the condo with the moldy closets;
  • I had to work even harder so I could afford to hire a workman to come in and fix said closets;
  • I had to suck up to a boss that was a loser and misogynist because he held the keys to my promotions and my paychecks;
  • I had to deal with the fact that my then-fiance’s ex girlfriends kept calling and showing up at the house because he told me they were just friends and I didn’t want to seem like a psycho;
  • If only my work schedule would cooperate, I could work out more often;
  • I had to ….

You see where this is heading right?

I spent so much time and energy tending to things like those on the list that despite the fancy titles, leadership positions at work, community and volunteer organizations I had virtually NO POWER over my own life.

I was riding a train that never changed the tracks.  Life seemed good on the outside, the scenery was  often gorgeous and although I didn’t think I wanted for anything, I was longing for my power.

After I had my hands read, and started learning to read hands myself, tiny steps were leading to more steps.  I started questioning the shoulds and have-tos and came up with some really out-of-this-world ideas.

Eventually I realized how much power had been given away – I’d always thought of myself as a strong, powerful and independent woman, so it was a big shock to find that I didn’t have any real control about the direction of my life!

As the life learning continued (let’s just say my mind was continually being blown by new ideas, flashes of insight and completely foreign-to-me ways of thinking) the reality sunk in about what it means to be fully in charge of your own life.

My Jupiter Mount freckle appeared while I was in college.  College was a time of significant growth for me (as it is for most, I suspect).  I was simultaneously questioning everything being taught by “the man” and trying to fit in with whom I thought was the cool, avant-garde crowd.

Eventually I tired of working so hard to play by everyone else’s rules and dropped out after 4 + years of mediocre work and energy expended trying to fit a square peg into a round hole (sorry, couldn’t resist the pun.)

The freckle appeared as a sign that claiming my power (not my bossiness) was key to my life’s journey.  I’m humbled to realize that it was nearly 20 years before I began claiming what was rightfully mine.

My Jupiter Mount freckle disappeared as I claimed my power.

    Hi Peggy,
Interesting post… I noticed a freckle on the palm of my hand about 5 years ago, and now I have one on the "palm" of my saturn finger… both on the left hand. The first one is between by jupiter finger and my saturn finger (if I have a good palm sketch)… the lines on my hand don't really match up to the lines on any of the charts I have seen… Maybe I should scan it! I have always wondered why they appeared!

      Hey Michelle!

you mention two freckles, but there is only one location? The space between Apollo and Saturn on the palm?

With that said that space is a connection between getting paid for your creativity — it's like a kick in the bum reminding you to earn right pay for your right work — don't worry what anyone else has to say about what your work is and how you go about doing it — do it to your best ability with the highest intention to serve and ensure that you receive the right pay for the work you do.

Some challenges can be a) getting paid well for work you don't love (not right work); or b) spending your time doing what you love but giving it away.

Low on my apollo mount ( ring finger right?) on my left hand I have a faint freckle. I think its kinda new. Funny there also is a freckle on the front side of my right hand right above the apollo knuckle. Mirror images almost.

I think I'm still trying to believe that creativity thing. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr….

Mari! You are sooo creative. Anyone whose conversed with you or read your blog knows that for sure. Of course, as the story with Jupiter shows, the freckles seem to want to kick us in the arse and remind us to "believe" in ourselves. You know, own our Superpower. Go for it! XO back

Without seeing the freckles myself I'm not able to give you a specific reading however your thumb is all about getting things done. Venus is about play and wonder and awe. and if it's in the immediate spot/demarcation between the thumb and venus it could have something to do with you needing to "speak up" for yourself. I don't know if your right hand is your dominant or non-dominant hand – but either way those general guidelines would stay true.

Feel free to follow the instructions on the Raise Your Hand page and submit pictures of your hands for a mini-reading here on the blog!

    Hello Peggie,

I have a freckle  bang in the centre of my right palm.  It's been there for at least a decade and at one time during my twenties it faded, but at the moment i'm 39 weeks pregnant and it's getting darker and slightly larger.  I've always wondered whether it symbolises something as I have the same sort of freckle in the centre of my left foot too!!

Hey there Mertle! Congrats on the little one, btw. Such joy and teaching come in those teeny packages!

Without seeing what lines it's attached to (or not) it's hard to give a precise statement about this freckle.

My question would be whether or not you've always anticipated a big life change around your 40th year (I have no idea how old you are, so maybe you HAD an event that was life changing around that time?)

The middle of the palm is a sort of subjective thing and I'm really good — but not so good at remote viewing – so therefore I'd need to see a pic to give you some more insight.

You could join my email list and receive a free 15 minute reading and we could talk about it then. 🙂

And the foot? I don't know so much about that!

      Hey Sarah! thanks for writing.
You don't say if you're right or left hand dominant, so I'm going to assume you're right hand dominant. (yeah. I know what happens when I assume, but forgive me).

Freckles generally appear as little flashing lights or reminders — trying to call your attention to a lesson you've learned or are learning. Or something that will help you move forward. It's not a gift marking, it's not a wisdom marker and it's not there forever.

Given your description (without actually seeing it for myself – you can totally submit a picture for the Raise Your Hand Monthly Series if you want me to see it and give you a fuller description by video), sounds as though you're having a hard time talking about/owning/making peace with your need for ART, Creativity and spotlight in your life.

If I go with my intuition I'd say you need to add more creativity into your life. Sure, it makes no sense to you logically – but it loosens you up and gives your soul a place to shine, doesn't it? In doing this you'll access some of the old wounds you're carrying around about your relationships – the intention should be to face them, work through them and move on to help others after you've resolved what you've got goin' on.

Hope this helps Miss Sarah! Come back anytime

Amini – you don't say if you're right or left hand dominant and which freckle was first and which was second. I'd have to see the exact location to give you specific-to-you information (feel free to submit a pic of your hands for the Raise Your Hand series) but I'd say there's a marker there to remind you to make space to let your emotions flow.

First – the life line. You don't say what was happening in your life t the time of the dog bite, nor how old you were. Did it leave a scar? What does it look like? (Feel free to submit your photos to be entered in the monthly Raise Your Hand Series) http://palmistryforhealers.com/learn-palmistry/ra

Did you cut your hand in the middle of the scar from the dog bite? or the middle of the life line?

Freckles will come and go – hanging around long enough to remind us to pay attention. Pinkies are about healing and communication. In fact, it's impossible for us to heal our old wounds without being willing to communicate with ourselves about our truth.

Thumbs are about getting things done and completing tasks. The key is to ensure that you are focusing on projects that sustain you and are not simply busy work. Additionally be wary of doing things to make others happy – if it has no bearing on your big picture WHY in life.

Hi there! I have a small, very dark, perfectly flat freckle on my right ring finger. From my perspective–with fingers facing forward–this freckle is on the "top right corner"  of the mid-finger knuckle. It showed up suddenly, just about a week ago.

For what it may help, I am right-handed, and according to a friend who dabbles in palmistry I have a "fire" hand. Hope you could illuminate this for me, a bit!

    Thanks very much! 🙂

Apollo (ring) finger is all about creativity, spotlight and facing your fears of rejection. Are you turning down opportunities to shine in your every day life (usually at work or school)?

It could be a call for you to own your power, instead of playing "second fiddle" to everyone else's needs and wants. Usually this is in work, but it could be at home an in your community as well. Take some time to think about what's been happening lately — are you standing your ground and stating your position?

A freckle appeared two days ago in the center of my right palm.

Audrey — I would have to see to give you any meaningful insight of course. What many people believe to be a fate (Saturn) line is sometimes a spoke of another line and that would definitely change what the meaning may be.

The middle of the palm is often where we hold our sadness. It's possible that you are in the middle of a large transition. And as much as you're thinking about it being the "right" thing, you're not allowing yourself the opportunity to mourn the no. Spend some time in peace and quiet and allow all your emotions to flow. Even the most wonderful changes require us to let go of things. Anytime we let go, we should honor the thing we're releasing.

I have identical freckles on the palms of both hands. If I line up my hands it's like I was split in two. They are near the bottom of my life line on the right and left like twins same spot same size and color on the not thumb side. Make sense? I'm from a strong lineage does it mean strength?

Kellmo — As always, the only true way to get accurate guidance is for me to see your hands. You say that they are "near the bottom of my life line" on both your right and left hands. You also note that you're from a "strong lineage"

Near is not particularly effective for me — seeing precisely where markings are is a key to accurate insight. It's also important for a trained eye to be able to see/note any other lines or marks that may be nearby. Generally your life line shows how grounded you are in the life you're living right now. It, along with everything else in the palm, can and will change throughout your life on Earth. The lower level of the lifeline can show some trauma or early responsibility in your life. This may be the meaning– you're saying to yourself "If i could make it through THAT I can make it through anything" As far as being on both hands — it's that your inner and outer worlds are in alignment – at least about this situation.

Finally – I find that all of us who have made it to Earth have a strong enough lineage to have gotten here. Weak lineages would have died out and have no one to represent them here on the planet.

I'd really have to see it to give you an accurate appraisal. In GENERAL though, thumbs are about getting things done. The lower third of thumb is about using your voice to tell your truth in the world — speaking your truth out loud — the stuff that scares you most — that if someone who was your friend found out, they wouldn't be your friend anymore kind of stuff. (That's where healing begins by the way). Below the third zone of thumb – the fleshy part – represents letting your heart in to your "story" Compassion for yourself and others would be imperative here. Also let yourself find time to play. Don't be the cynic, be the kid at heart.

I have a tiny freckle on my mount of Venus on my left hand. It appeared a few months ago. I thought it was strange, since I ended a really long term relationship about six months ago and left home to travel. On my travels, I ran in to an old friend that I've known since high school in Washington where he was living for the summer and working on an organic farm. We spent the night out on the farm together and it was just incredibly romantic. I left a few days later to fly to Arizona, which is where I noticed my freckle.  We kept in touch, and when I was back in Texas he asked me to come back out to Seattle to meet him (he was in NoCo) and take a really long bus trip through the Rockies back home for the holidays. Of course I did. We spent a week vagabonding it in Seattle, and on the bus ride home (which was BEAUTIFUL) I noticed that he also has a freckle on his mount of Venus, but on the right hand. I feel like my freckle is to remind me to be true, not to withdraw or be guarded. I have a tendency to play games and deliberately push people away, and I think this is telling me just to let myself be open to new possibilities and not be afraid, because even though getting hurt is scary, we as human beings are emotionally resilient. I don't know about our matching freckles, and I don't know where this is headed (hopefully to more travels and less one night stands with a beautiful hippie boy), but all signs point to yes. 😀

would really have to see it and both your hands to give any accurate insight. as always, would love to hear what YOU think it means. Your middle (Saturn) finger is about time/value/money/worth and your ring finger is about creativity and spotlight. Your dominant hand represents you "in the world – how you're seen and how you want to be seen/assume you're being seen." Your non-dominant hand is the inner you.

but lately i look at it, and get weary, its odd how spiritual the connection feels.
some things cant be explained yet. All i know is that there is strange coincedences and dreams being had on my side.
    ITS NOT ME

It sounds like you're looking for "destiny" or "fate" when it comes to romance. I love romance, but you can't "fate" someone into a romance. If you're weary, it's a sign that it's too much work and it's time release your need for any specific outcome.

The sharing of freckles – makes sense — not destiny. Just that "like attracts like" and we are often drawn to people who are dealing with the same challenges at a given time as we are. You've heard the rather negative statement, "Misery loves company"? Well, it does. We'd rather commiserate with people who are complaining about the same things we are than go out and take a stand to change it. (You don't have to look further than the nightly news to see the results of this in action on a global scale.)

The good news? if you're committed to growth and spiritual and personal evolution – you two could help one another through your "stuff."

Generally our pinkies represent issues around communication (personal, business and with the divine) as well as questions and challenges around healing, intimacy, trust and surrender.

    Hi Peggie

I have a fairly prominent mount of Venus. About two years ago as I started travelling as a step to take more controll over the direction of my life a large vein rose in the left hand (my writing hand). It's isn't coloured but is very prominent and pulsates (not all the time). I was told this means my mount of Venus is maturing.

Around this time I started to teach myself to paint for the first time. A year later I took up painting lessons for a few months and at the start of this time a freckle appeared close to the life line half way down the mount of Venus. Over 6 months on I am still paintingbut have just taken up guitar for the first time…at the same time suddenly annother freckle has poped up on the mount of Venus further down and further left. This strikes me as way too coincidental (not a believer in coincidences) as was hopeing to have some light shed as to what there freckles mean. any help yould be greatly appreciated!!

    Many thanks

Interesting that you're so drawn to your Mount of Venus. It is one of the mounts that I see quick changes in – one day it's depleted another it's plump. In my work I see an overly full (as compared to everything else in both your hands) Mount of Venus as an indicator of over-indulgence in "feel good" activities as a way to block out "reality." A well-developed mount of Venus will indicate that you have a good grasp of when to work and when to play – when to treat yourself and when to take action to make the treats become long-term reality.

Freckles show up as markers – to draw your attention to a particular area – and they will go away too. My experience has been that they are reminding us to "step up" and "clear out" what needs to be cleared in order to move more effectively into our purpose. They often can be tied to your life lesson as well.

So, I agree with you – there are no coincidence – and freckles ALWAYS have meaning on the palms of our hands.

Without seeing your hands, knowing your fingerprint translations or seeing precisely where the freckles are, it's hard to give you a definitive idea of what YOUR freckles mean -which is why I gave you a general overview.

I'm curious as to what you WISH they mean and how you see the freckles, your travels, your new artistic pursuits and your Mount of Venus as related. There is a subtle nuanced difference between Venus and Apollo in my work – which is how I'd usually identify artistic endeavors (via Apollo – not Venus). It's definitely a subtle thing though.

What I know for sure is that my clients know themselves well – they have reasons and suspicions about things on their hands and I enjoy exploring further with them during our sessions.

Sometimes though, we do often neglect our inner knowing and lean into what we HOPE is a "sign"…so it would be hard to go deeper based on the short description!

      Peace,
      Peggie

I have discovered within the past week a small freckle resting below the intersection of what I believe are my life and destiny lines on my left palm. Not sure what to make of it but I found it an unusual location and I have no other freckles of my palms. I wonder if it has anything to do with my feeling of confusion over where my life and destiny are taking me.

Jony – thanks for swinging by. I don't normally use the term "destiny" line but I suspect you're talking about your Saturn line. And yes, I've always said we know ourselves best. Your intuition s right on and if you're feeling stuck or confused, you will often see markers on the palms of Your hand/s to remind you that you have all the answers within.

I have a palmistry question re freckles. I recently discovered that a very close friend of mine has a matching freckle with me; we both have a prominent freckle on the palm under of our left hand just under our pointer fingers. I feel that it is quite strange to have matching freckles. Is there anything to this?

I think if you look above in the comments, you'll see I've answered this question. Which is an indication that maybe it's not so rare at all! I always say, Like attracts Like – so if you have a freckle in a similar place to where you friend has one — it could be that you're both dealing with the same issues or "stuff". The good news is that rather than commiserating and pulling one another down into the miasma, you can help lift one another up.

On my birthday, June 5, i turned 30. As a life long feminist, socialist (not the scarey kind!), humanist, with agnostic but hopeful spirituality, I became a true believer. Not of any religion. But simply of goodness and light

Upon my awakening, i was so excited to know that all my hopes were true. My lost relatives who i missed dearly WERE guiding me. Heaven IS real. But then i subsequently realized that evil and darkness were also real. But i understood that humanity is inherently good- yet despite my enlightenment i was still terrified, as my whole world was now upside down.

My fear rubbed off on others and long story short, I was institutionalized against my will. But i made the most of my experience, connected with patients, staff, and doctors alike and put smiles on faces, and tears of joy in their eyes.

A week later i returned home, but my 90 year old rented house did not look the same. I stepped into the home of my dreams and continue to submerge myself in love, curiosity, and compassion.

This is when i saw the brown freckle on my left hand. Near the line that indicates, "Head." What do you suppose that means? And thank you in advance 🙂

Pauline — thank you for coming here and finding me at this very moment. Everything IS in alignment at all times! I can't begin to tell you what a gift you are – but you are!

Fear is a tough shadow to carry around. We all have times of great fear, don't we? But it sounds like you have a grasp on how to choose love/light when this starts to feel oppressive – I'm truly proud of you for finding your true power as a being with choice.

Now about the freckle – of course to be totally accurate I'd have to see both hands and all the lines and prints — but in GENERAL your head line tells us how you think and process and information. (not what you think about of course, just how you come to conclusions and weigh options etc.)

You don't mention where on/near the head line the freckle is (at the start – near the thumb/connected to the life line; or the middle or toward the end). Neither do I know where your head line ends, if it's crossed by any other lines or markers, etc. So what I'm sharing here is speculation based on what the head line means in GENERAL – not specifically for YOU. (Does that make sense?)

My sense is that your freckle has appeared to remind you to weigh your thoughts carefully — not OVERTHINK, but simply include the head and boundaries in issues of light and dark. Not everyone is going to hear your message at this time — don't worry about them, be present for yourself, invite in the light and make conscious and compassionate choices how you wish to extricate yourself from those who disagree with you, or are standing in a space of fear.

Remember Pauline, you have complete free will at every point in your life. The choices are yours — when you choose anything – stand in love and light.

      Peace
      Peggie

I have a freckle between my pinky and would-be ring finger on my right hand. What does that mean.? I just got it about month ago and i wanted to know what it could mean. It is in between the two lines on my palm closest to the top of my palm it is closer to the second line than the first. Sorry if this is confusing.

Serena, I am a little confused, but will try to help where I can. Please remember that any insight I share with you here should be run against your own internal "knowing". You know yourself much better than I ever could — ! You say your "would be ring finger" does that mean you have had an injury and no longer have a ring finger? That would certainly be significant from a hand analysis standpoint, which is why I ask. You say it's between the two lines on your palm closest to the top{} and it's closer to the second than the first. I really can't fathom what these lines are to be honest. I think you may be talking about a heart line (you can search the site here for info on that line and pictures of where it starts if you're not sure). You may mean that the second line is the head line (again, feel free to search for info) but that would put the freckle more in the middle of your palm than nearer the finger bases.

All that said – freckles stand as reminders to significant lessons we're learning or have learned. Have you recently had a heartbreak? Have you felt that someone "stole" your idea? Do you feel that you can't trust anyone at all and seem to be floating on an island of your own making?

These are all possible reactions to what may be going on in your life now or at the time your freckle appeared!

Feel free to reply here for more information!

Wow. I'm always amazed (and bemused) by these predictive things people say/write about markings in the hands. First off – pregnancy (or not) is a very spiritual journey and it's a very personal one. I would invite you to not only work with your doctors (if you feel you're having trouble conceiving) but with your inner wisdom as you approach this time to bring a new soul (with it's own agenda and purpose) into this world.

With that said, there is NO WAY to predict children in the hand accurately. There are others who disagree, but I know as many childless people who have "children's lines" as I know parents with no "children's lines" – so let's not look to our hands for predictions. At worst you can end up living in a self-fulfilling prophecy cycle – avoiding or hiding out from your truest purpose.

The base of the thumb depending on if we're looking at the third/lower zone of the thumb or the actual area below the lower zone – is related to the heart chakra (if we're in the third/lower zone it's the throat chakra – if you're lower/third zone is missing and this is where the freckle is – it's time for you to start vocalizing your truest and most heartfelt desires and fears).

When I read hands I look at everything in relation to each other — in other words, no one place in a hand stands alone. Your marker COULD mean that you've been keeping your deepest desires to your self – usually out of fear that others are not trustworthy. You could be carrying everyone else's expectations, or you could be in need of much more fun and child-like wonder in your own life.

All the best, and thanks for reaching out!

Katie! Hi there! For some reason this comment was sitting in a folder of "suspects" so I didn't see it til today. Anyway — I think you're talking about the outside of your hand/finger (versus the palm side)? My specialty is the fingerprint side of the hand — because when freckles appear there it's not just sun or pigmentation. If you have a freckle on a part of your hand that gets more sunlight — it could be just like a freckle anywhere else on your body (face, arms, legs, feet, etc). Or it could be the beginning of a mole — something to have the doctor take a look at it if it grows rapidly! Thanks for reading and commenting.

Hi 🙂 I stumbled upon this website while trying to answer a few questions of my own, related to palmistry. While I wasn't exactly looking for the meaning of freckles on palms, I found this article very relevant to my life. I also noticed a few freckles on the palms of my hand.

I'm interested in hearing your feed back about this one:
*My first freckle appears as more of a faint birthmark. It is located on the inside of my right palm, under the pinky. It appeared when I was about 5-7 years of age and was very dominant at first. Slowly it started to fade, and has stayed the same light brown way since.

The second few are very small, one is dark brown almost black while the other is a tad bit larger and light brown. They are both lined up vertically on the underbelly of my right index finger, sort of on the side.

Very interested in palmistry, any insight would be very appreciated! Thanks 🙂

Your pinkies represent Mercury – the god of communication, commerce and health/wellness. (these are broad definitions, btw). While I can't see your hand I wonder if your freckle is in the "intimacy" point of your palm. If so, it serves as a reminder to TRUST other people, yourself and your higher self/God/Universe.
Your index finger represents Jupiter – the god of the gods and represents leadership, power, vision, passion etc. Again, without seeing your prints and pictures of your hands I can't make a specific statement – but that area of your hand would be asking you to own your power and stop playing "second fiddle" if you choose to move ahead in your life.

I have a question about the significance of the freckles that have mirror on my body, for example i have a freckle on my left hand under where my thumb joins the palm and one on my left foot that is where the big toe joins the sole of my foot, I've always wondered how one got on the sole but it has its partner on my hand.

Kevin — thanks for stopping by! I'm afraid I don't do foot readings (although I have met people who do), so I can't speak to the significance of a "mirror" on your foot and hand. I would suspect, that much like the hands, feet have specific meanings for each zone, toe and side of the body. It sounds like the one on your hand is on your wrist?

      Bright blessings,

    Hi Peggie,

For as long as I can remember, I've had this prominent freckle on my right hand. When I was a little girl, it even helped me learn which hand was my right from my left. It's located on the Venus mound, sandwiched neatly between two lines (I believe they are referred to as "Mars lines"). The Mars lines and the lifeline intersect and join where the lifeline begins at the flap of skin between the index finger and thumb. Any idea on what it might mean?

I took a photo (please pardon the lack of quality) to help explain what I mean:

      Hi Amy.
      thanks for writing.
Your picture didn't come through — it's the way I have the comments set up. However, freckles are always there to remind us of our strengths or challenges. Since you've had it since childhood – it may well be a birthmark or a mole of sorts — freckles usually come and go over time.

The space you refer to is the Area of Mars (flap of skin) yet you also indicate the freckle is on Venus Mount (which would be lower – the fleshy part of the hand by the thumb).

Mars represents our warrior side and venus – our sense of play and childlike wonder. I wonder if you had the opportunity to truly "be a kid"?

    Hi Peggie,
Over the last few months a freckle has appeared on the palm of my left hand. It started as a small dark spot, which I thought was a splinter, and has grown to an average sized freckle. It is directly below my wedding ring finger, about an inch down, it does not touch any of my lines. I am 30, right handed and was married early November. The freckle appeared about a month before my wedding. Any thoughts?

      Thanks so much for writing.
You're describing a freckle below your Apollo (ring) finger on your left hand, which is your non-dominant hand.
I find that freckles tend to show up as "karmic" markers.
That may send ominous, but it's not.
My experience has been that freckles are there to remind us of gifts and challenges in the area where they reside. These gifts and challenges are part of our life purpose/path and awareness on our journey is key.
Apollo fingers represent appreciation/approval/applause – the need to be recognized, the requirement of owning our own creativity and our ability to hear our own drummer – regardless of whether we receive the applause/approval or not.
Weddings are times of massive transition, and it's important to recognize that in every joyous life transition where we say "yes" to one new possibility, we are also saying "no" to other possibilities. That's the gift of life and free will.

Without having a picture of your hand it's hard to give an accurate reading, but over all I'd say your freckle has appeared to remind you to define and create life on your own terms – regardless of the possible fear of rejection.

Hello, I noticed about 2 days that a tiny dark freckle has appeared in the very center of my left hand. I am left handed if that makes a difference. It is very noticeable and odd that it just appeared randomly one day, mid-winter. I feel that it has meaning and would love to know why. I was listening to a hypnosis mp3 about motivation and realizing life goals while reading this blog so I found it delightfully ironic. I have strong belief in signs after I randomly had what seemed like a birthmark of a baby's foot appear on my hip bone one morning and dissapear within hours. This was months before I became pregnant with my first.

As for my life I'm 22, a married young mom with 2 kids, alot of stress, and just got my first apartment a month ago with the kids. I have alot of goals, but have a lack of motivation at the moment; hence the mp3. I attached a picture. Thanks! D

I too think signs are important — and they have direct meaning to us, based on what we've asked for. So the question might be, what are you looking for a sign for?
How can you take control of your own situation in relationship to this?
Freckles appear as "karma" markers to my way of thinking.

Hi! Was reading your page and I was interested. I have a freckle on my right hand (dominate hand) between my thumb and first finger. It's closer to my thumb than my finger.

The strange thing is that my mother had one there for as long as she could remember and it disappeared about a year ago, right when mine showed up!

I was just curious what it could mean.

Perfect timing! I just started a series to help you ANSWER these types of questions — you can read what your finger's mean and more:
      http://peggiearvidson.com/2013/01/29/cuts-bruises

the space between our thumb and first finger is usually where our life line and head line begin. It's also an area that represents familial ties and responsibility as well as our connection to our family — so it is really cool that both you and your mom have had freckles here. Perhaps you have had a karmic relationship with her in past lives? Did something profound happen in your relationship around the time of the "freckle exchange"?

    Hey Peggie,

About 8 years ago a friend pointed out to me an obviously dark freckle on the outer of my left thumb, the size of a pinhead. This friend told me it was a sign that i would marry into wealth or rather. A few months ago something [in my opinion] odd started to happen, that freckle started to dissapear…the odd part is that no sooner did i realize this was happening, I notice a freckle almost the exact same one start to appear on the inner part of my married finger, between that finger and my middle finger, right down the bottom of it, a cm from being on my hand. Right now, the freckle on my thumb is almost gone [you would only notice it if you knew what you were looking at] and the one on my finger is as dark [like a speck of dirt] as the one on my thumb had been…I've been pondering on this happening for sometime, do you know what this would signify, If anything?

Freckles come and go — like everything in the hands – except our fingerprints. each area of the hand has it's own specific meaning – and the appearance of a freckle is usually (to my experience) related to a karmic contract we have with that energy. Pinkies – about intimacy, healing and surrender and trust. The thumbs – about getting off our duffs and making things happen. Venus (the pad under our thumb) about having fun and allowing for wonder, awe and play!

    Hi Peggie!

I’m 33 years old and a few years ago I developed freckles on both of my pinky fingers, on my palms, right above the middle knuckle. I would really like to know what this means…

I also have freckles all over the rest of my body… My eye doctor told me I even have one inside my eyeball!!! I’m German and Irish and a teeny bit Norwegian, so it’s not a big surprise that I have freckles like this. I’m just curious if it has any special meaning. I would really appreciate any information you might have. Thank you in advance!

Well – as we know freckles are pigmentation shifts — right? So I have no real insight into meanings on your face or other body parts (but I’ll bet a face reader would!)

when you say freckles “on both my pinky fingers, on my palms, right above the middle knuckle” do you mean that there is one freckle, above the Lower, Middle or Top joint of each of your pinky fingers? On the inside (not the rougher outside of the hands where the fingernails are, but the inner side?)

In general – pinkies are about communication, intimacy, connection and business prowess, as well as our connection to the Divine. And in general the Lower zone (of all fingers) are about the basic needs/energies of that particular finger, the middle zone is about the daily needs and actions related to that particular finger; and the upper zone is about the highest ideals and visions of that particular finger.

Finally – your dominant hand represents how you are in the world (how others perceive you and how you set yourself up to be perceived) and your non-dominant hand represents how you are in your inner realms (how you see yourself – either positively or negatively, the shadow or secret self that you don’t like to address)

So, you can put the pieces together — based on WHERE the freckle is, you can surmise what information it’s trying to remind you of.

My way of thinking is that freckles show up to remind us to either release beliefs/habits that aren’t serving us or to remind us o access the gifts that come naturally that we may be ignoring.

      Happy hand reading!

I think by “back” you mean the outer side of the hand – the part without the fingerprints? Usually those freckles appear, much like they do on all our exposed skin, as pigmentation deposits from sun exposure. However, your index finger is about power & passion. that may give you some insight. It sounds like the other freckle is below the joint and technically on your wrist or arm – and it does seem to be a fairly “normal” freckle.

Hi Peggy, just curious. I had a freckle appear several years ago on my left (non-dominate) hand. If i held my hand up in the “stop” gesture the freckle is exactly in line horizontally with my thumb and vertically with my pinky (sorry not sure of the right terminology, I’m new to this). Is it on the palm side or the outer side of the hand? If it’s on the outside, it’s like from sun exposure, or even aging (you’ve heard of age spots, right?) and a result of the body’s pigmentation. If it’s on the palm side, it sounds like it’s below the pinky, near the wrist. That is a zone of “Eureka” and intuitive knowing, as well as a place to dig into your ability to trust yourself, the divine and your needs with a partner.

I have a newly formed freckle directly in the center of my left palm, ( If you follow the middle finger down halfway in the center of the palm and centered between the inside and outside edges of my palm.) I am right hand dominant. My head and heart lines start as one, then separate. This little freckle is in the middle of the two lines. What is this little guy trying to tell me?
    Thanks!

Thanks for writing and being so very descriptive of your new freckle. It sounds to me as though it’s in a zone of transition, and close to the location that I might refer to as a “well of tears”. My questions, if we were talking one to one, would revolve around your ways of dealing with sadness, goodbyes and transitions. I find that zone to be about our deep emotions and how we deal with them. Your freckle can be asking you to find ways to process your emotions in a way that helps you heal and without judging yourself!

Peggie, I have an freckle / palm question for you. I have a freckle on my left (weak) hand that is exactly in the center on my Jupiter mound and at the terminus of my heart line. Not sure what that means. The strange thing is that my closest friend has the exact same freckle in the exact same location on her left hand; it is her strong hand though. Do you have any guidance?

I think it has to do with us both dealing with some similar issue that ties us together. I’ve had enlightening meditative experiences reveal to me that the 2 of us are both old souls and very connected. Is this Matching palm freckle we both share a reminder of this soulful connection?

      Harris,

a Freckle on the center of the Jupiter mount would carry similar meaning to the Jupiter star (you might want to tune into the monthly free calls where I’m talking about gift markings this year – as well as providing free mini-readings on each month’s call). I also note that you say your heart line ends there – it sounds to me like you have a “Big Heart” heart line. You can read more about that too on this site by searching for heart lines.

The meanings would be similar for your friend as they are for you. Do they tie you together? hard to say. I’m pretty pragmatic in things like love, relationships, business and our future. Meaning you both may have found one another because you have similar interests and pasts – like does attract like as they say!

My personal belief on soul-mates/soul connections is that EVERYONE in our present lifetime is here for a reason. Whether we love them or can’t stand to see them they have likely been part of our learning journey. After all, we are all connected as one, so there really is no separation of the souls on the spiritual plane.

Wow, I’m really glad I came across this– I always thought I was weird for having freckles on my palms! I only had my palm read once as a teen before they showed up. I’m right handed, but I am a fashion designer and to a lot with both hands and have freckles on both palms and pads of my fingers.

Right hand: freckle under my middle finger, close to the side next to my ring finger. About a half centimeter down.

    Left hand:
Freckle at the very bottom of the palm, below my pinkie. Also another freckle on the middle segment of my pinkie. I have one more freckle in between my middle and ring fingers, slightly more towards the ring finger & about a quarter of a centimeter down from the top of my palm.

How wonderful – so many cosmic reminders of your gifts and talents throughout your palms. Here’s some general info (and you may want to tune in to the monthly free calls to learn more about hands in general throughout the year). Your middle finger is called Saturn and it’s about time/value/money/integrity/worth/guilt. Your pinky is called Mercury and is all about communication, healing, being heard, truth and trust and more. The low zone of the hand which is sounds like you’re describing is the Moon zone. It’s about mystery, femininity, the “shadow” side, intuition and earthy knowingness. Your ring finger is called Apollo and is about creativity, art, fame, spotlight, fear of rejection, hiding out, apathy and more.

Thanks again for coming by and for commenting!

    Hi Peggie,
I’m new to all this but curious. I have three freckles. On my left palm. One on my middle finger on the crease of my top knuckle, one between my life line and fate line, and one just above the crease where my wrist meets my hand (outer side). Would love to know if these symbolise anything….

Thanks for stopping by. Yes. everything in the hand has meaning. The meaning is, of course, moderated and given meaning by you and your life – everything that’s come before until this moment. Which means I can tell you here what those spaces in the hand mean, but you’ll need to infuse your story to give it meaning.

Your middle finger is called Saturn and it’s about time, value, money, worth, guilt, integrity, security/insecurity and more. You have your freckle on the outside of the hand vs. the palmar side. I generally see that as a marker that may be used to “protect” you or remind you (subconsciously) to keep your guard up. As you believe you need to keep your guard up – in this case about your thoughts around money and career.

I’d have to see the one between the Saturn (fate) line and life line to give any real indication of it’s meaning – depending where on the palm it sits and if it’s on any attack lines or tertiary markings would provide more specific insight.

Again, the marking on the outside of the palm at the crease is very likely sun-related – our outer hand/arm is often subject to sunlight and given the pigmentation of our individual skin we may be predisposed to freckling.

Everything in your hand has meaning! Every little thing.
In general – pinky, aka Mercury, fingers are about healing, communication and relationships. Ultimately about trust and surrender. We cannot be truly healed (of anything) until we’re willing to face our role in the wounding. This goes for broken hearts and broken bones and everything in between.

My question would be, are you hiding out from relationships?or are you “keeping quiet” about what you truly feel/want because you’re afraid no one will understand?

I may be misreading your comment, but I don’t believe the location you describe is possible. As your life line is to the left of a fate (or Saturn) line in most every case. I’d be remiss to offer insight as I can’t picture this location as described. However, as I’ve stated before, I find freckles and scars to be reminders or punctuation marks prompting us to scoop up the energy of that spot and apply it to our particular life purpose and lessons.

It sounds like your freckle is sitting smack dab in what I’d refer to as the well of sadness. If you find yourself spending a lot of time/energy in the sadness element (woe is me! why does this always happen to me? I’m so alone!) it can feel very real for certain. Yet, there is the opportunity to stick your head out of the well and see what’s happening in the light. Not to say there isn’t a time to grieve and mourn, but that there’s also a place for exploring the lightness and joy. Spend some time with wee ones — they have an ability to explore all their emotions quite vividly in any moment. One moment they seem traumatized and deeply sad, the next, they are curious and alive…..I hope this adds some clarity. It’s definitely the type of exploration that can be very beneficial one to one – with a trusted therapist, counselor, minister, teacher, coach

I am 42 years old and have a rare congenital heart condition discovered at 19. I have often noticed over the years a split on my life line Left hand(non dominant) sitting next to the split I recently noticed a freckle. Just one sitting below the webbing of my thumb under my index finger. This freckle just developed within the past 6 months. I’m curious since I work with gemstones and meditate on a daily basis with crystals. Any thoughts?

Angel — we’d have to look at all the other points of interest in both your hands for a full-on, 100% accurate reading. With that said, Venus is about sensuality, play, meeting your needs, beauty and inspiration and awe. I’d say that the freckle is acting as a reminder to own that power within – and not look outside yourself for those needs to be met.

      Hi Erin!

they do tend to disappear when the lesson or marker is less necessary (or that’s been my experience). I would say that everything in the palm of the hand has a message and many things on the outer side of the hand do too. All related to where exactly they are.

I’m going through a challenging period in life, and curious about a new, distinct freckle that’s just emerged on my left hand. It’s nearest to my life line, and it sits almost midway between my pointer and middle fingers (Jupiter and Saturn?).

There’s another freckle on that hand (one I’ve had as long as I can remember), at the start of my lifeline, below the left-edge of Jupiter.

And now that I’m looking, there’s a larger faint freckle at the bottom of my palm, on the pinkie finger side. (Freckles galore!)

I’d love to know the meaning of them and what, if anything, they’re meant to remind me!

Without seeing them myself it’s always hard to give an accurate reading – but I can tell you in general (and then recommend you sign up for my newsletter – using the form on the right column – because when you do you automatically receive a free mini reading and you can submit a photo of your hand for me to see)

In general — the space between Saturn and Jupiter — ? No man’s land. Sort of, because even though it’s midway, there is one of those two zones that it sits in – which is the reminder for certain. However I’d say it’s about balancing your vision of “Power” and “Money” against what you’ve absorbed as your family’s vision/meaning of Money and Power – find your own meaning and then move toward it. Clearly power and money are important for you in this lifetime.

The Jupiter/lifeline start freckle – close to where I’d see a Jupiter star – so this can carry some of the energy of a Jupiter star (Valedictorian/Leader of Leaders) again, another Power marking.

The final faint freckle may be coming or going since it’s so faint – and it could be a reminder to not let yourself wallow in the well of “Mooniness” or it could be a reminder to trust your moonniness as you pursue your power and money.

Thank you so much Peggie! It means so much to me that you took the time to get back.

Your explanation definitely speaks to me too. I think my early life experiences/scary childhood left me thinking about both those things (money and power) as things that are grotesque and abusive, and as a result, I’ve shied a little too far away from them in adulthood, thinking I either don’t deserve them or they’d put me in positions that would leave me feeling frightened and vulnerable. So nice to think I might have a kind of reminder to find balance tattooed where I see it daily!

Mooniness rings a bell too! It can definitely sideline me from time to time!

Thank you again! I’ll definitely sign up to the newsletter! x

Until then, ring finger (Apollo) zone loosely translates to a reminder to use your innate innovative tendencies as you go through this phase of your life. The center (depending WHERE exactly it is/what lines is crosses/ sits above/below) might mean to pay attention to that energy as you go through your current transition. (Energy being whatever spot the freckle is actually occupying).

I find myself experiencing such coincidental matters & the freckle (My thought was Mole, but maybe not) was literally in my center/Middle of my left palm. My earliest memory on it was when I was in 4th Grade Like 9-10yrs or so & I believe I was digging at it with a school supply hoping i could make it go away. (Crazy how I wanted it gone so bad) years go by & it hasn’t faded. Than around 2011-2012 I was washing my feet doing my own pedi & I was boggled by what I saw (confused without words) I now have a freckle/Mole right in the center/Middle of my left foot. Than I look back at my palm & that freckle was still there but you can tell it was fading. Than 6months or so I got to talkin on that subject to someone about my foot & hand. Showed my foot & than my palm & the mark is gone with just a slight fade. I got the concept that maybe the symbolical routine where they created one on my foot than dissapeared the one on my palm had maybe a relation for New Beginnings/Change/Honored or something. What is your opinion.

Princess – everything that you note on your hand would have significance for you. The question would be, how does it play with all the other markings in your hand PLUS your fingerprints.

In short, the index finger is all about power/powerlessness so therefore the brief answer is this freckle is about you owning your power.

In what capacity? How to use it? Why to use it? All determined by your fingerprints

Your note delighted me. I love that the freckle served a purpose for you even before you grasped the idea of it serving a “higher” purpose. (Although I’d argue that knowing right from left would be a high purpose too!)
I’d have to see it to be able to give you some specific advice, but since your life line (and mine, and everyone else’s for that matter) reflects how much you’re enjoying your life right now and how grounded you are in life, I’d say that generally this freckle is a reminder that one of your gifts is the ability to enjoy life (and maybe even help other people enjoy theirs too!)

Your thumbs are about getting things done! As far as the wrist – while I haven’t done much research on that, one might wonder if it represents the place where you’re becoming you in the world – as it’s where the hand emerges from the arm. The one on my left hand is 1 cm higher than the other. I just have this feeling that they must mean something, they have not changed in any way and the one on my left hand is slightly darker than the other. Would you maybe have any insight into this?
My mother has also always had to moles directly parallel 1 cm apart on her right arm. Could this also be related?

HI Tan. The moon is about mystery, shadow and understanding your self and your own mysteries (among many things). I’d suspect that your fingerprints would point to a life purpose fulfillment formula to do with digging into your challenges, healing them and then communicating in a way that can help others as well. Without knowing where on the palm your mom’s freckles are it’s hard to have any idea what the mean. And while we sometimes see similarities in the hands of family members, it’s equally true that there are no similarities! I suspect it has something to do with our dharma and relationship to the people we travel with in each lifetime.
