What’s a Mystic Cross?

I came up in a school of palmistry that didn’t talk about the Mystic Cross at all.  Still, it’s hard to study hands and read as much about palmistry and hand analysis as I do and not come across references to this mystical marker.

The more I read about it and the more I looked at my own hands I realized that I do have one of these!  In fact, I’ve had it for as long as I’ve been studying hands.

During my certification process we identified it as a marker of change and upheaval in my life occurring in or or around my 41st year.  (talking about time lines in hands is another BOOK, much less post, so I won’t get into it right now.)

The above identification made sense.  In my 41st year my entire life changed – dramatically.  I knew it was coming and it was underway when we made the identification during my certification process.  The culmination came later that year, but since I don’t believe in coincidences, I assumed that a cross between a head and heart line, with it’s center point directly below the Saturn (middle) finger would always indicate some sort of massive life change.

(If you’ve been reading for a while, you know that I believe that change is inevitable – neither good or bad – so you might as well lean into it.)

Massive life change isn’t the easiest sort of change to lean into, but boy was it worth it. (hindsight, you know).

Fast forward a few (cough SIX cough) years and suddenly I’m getting more and more questions from curious readers about a Mystic Cross.  I wrote the questions off and responded from my belief that this cross more accurately reflected a life-change around the early 40s.  (me?! a non-predictive palmist – predicting change at a certain date? I’m still embarrassed!)

But I couldn’t really shake this Mystic Cross mystery so I went back through my library of palmistry tomes and started really digging into the meaning of a Mystic Cross.  Most books (and websites you’ll find) simply state it’s an indicator of psychic ability, which is probably why I wrote it off at first – I feel strongly that EVERYONE has psychic ability.

Then I started to meditate on that – what if a Mystic Cross is a type of gift marking?  What if a Mystic Cross appeared on your hand to remind you that you got an extra dose of this intuitive/psychic/mystical/alchemical gift in order to go deeply into your purpose and service in the world?  What if it showed up when you were NOT using it to it’s fullest advantage and you had a penalty to work through? (oy)

Ahhh, that made sense.

And this new understanding worked in alignment with the life change thing too.  While the massive life change I  made was not overtly related to stepping into this work – the timing was ‘coincidental’.

Having a Mystic Cross all these years I’m now (FINALLY) rethinking how I am in the world.

I’ve never been one of those believers with a big B.  I’m not a person who goes to a psychic already enamored of the wisdom they’ll bestow on me.  I’m intrigued by things mystical and other-wordly, but I face them all with a skeptic’s eye and a strong need for authentication.  Frankly, I’m the Doubting Thomas of the Psychic World.

Still.  I can’t shake the idea that a Mystic Cross shows up to push us into accepting and using in a BIG way our intuitive gifts.  It shows up to require us to explore not only what is seen, but what is unseen, and to face the fear of mockery and ostracism that can come along with that particular type of pursuit of answers.

A Mystic Cross to me means more than simply dabbling in the magical arts for giggles and entertainment, it means stepping deeply into the quest for spiritual truth and answers.  Finding those answers and making peace with the spiritual, natural and material world is the gift of the Mystic Cross.

Now that I’m coming to terms with it, I’m eager to embrace it (and stop fighting against it) and see how it can help amplify my service in the world.

Do you have a Mystic Cross?  What’s been your experience?

Your Divine Feminine Power

The theme is this — reclaiming our power in the world.

Power

At least that what everything comes down to for my clients.  True for me too (marketing lesson 101 – your clients are so much like you it’s like looking in a mirror).

The word power conjures up almost as many chills and challenges as the word money though.

Women come to me wondering why they feel so scattered.

Or what exactly it is that they’re doing wrong in their business because they do not have enough clients to pay the light bill (much less the mortgage).

They’re stuck in a relationship that doesn’t fill them up — but they can’t see the light to clear up the mess.

That’s when the digging starts.

Because ultimately they want something to feel different.  They think what they want is something tangible – like a week in Aruba or hot stone massage or time to read a novel – but what they really want is the power to choose the life that feels right for them.

They’re shouldering a bucketload of shoulds and it’s exhausting.

This is where the fun starts.

It’s also scary.

We react with our egos when we’re confronted with the fact that maybe we’re not owning our power.

Power isn’t a title you get at work.  It isn’t the right to wield your wishes on anyone or anything else on the planet.  Power is an inside job.

In hand analysis there’s a lot of power information sitting on and around your first finger.  We call it Jupiter.  He’s the god of the gods – Zeus’ counterpart.

Whether or not you have a strong Jupiter finger is less important than what you do with that finger – or the energy that the finger represents.

Jupiter requires that you get very clear on YOUR vision.

What do you want your present (and future) to look like?  More importantly, what do you want it to feel like?  What will change when that happens?

Now – what’s stopping you?

Dealing with Jupiter and embracing the wisdom of true power in our lives isn’t a one-shot deal.  Most of us spend a lifetime coming to terms with our power.  It’s tied to our value.  It’s tied to our beliefs about money and time and worth.  Still, it’s a worthwhile journey.

I’m not big on catch-phrases – and frankly I think the word “empowerment” has been overused.  Still.  What will it take for you to return to your own wisdom and choose the direction of your own ship?

Money Questions with Liz McGowen

Hello there pumpkins!

We’re into another week of Raise Your Hand and I’m thrilled to be answering the question of Liz McGowen, over at Detective Books and Mystery novels.  I’m just sooo psyched about this because I LOVE me some detective and mystery novels.  In fact they’re my secret (not any more) treat when I’m feeling most discombobulated and kerflugey here at Peggie Arvidson central.

Enough of the squealing – onto the question.

Liz asks: “I have always had a very rocky relationship with money, and tend to feel there isn’t enough (even when there is). I’m wondering, is this hard-wired in me?  I’m working on my “money issues”, and would love to have your input and expertise whenever it is convenient for you! Thank you so much, Liz McGowen”

I answer:

Liz, so glad you asked this question straight out.  I hear it several times a week in private readings and I come across amazing, vibrant, valuable, creative women every day who struggle with some sort of value question.  You are truly a trail-blazer and providing a gift for so many by sharing your hands.  Thank you.

Let’s get to the hard wiring first.

The answer is a little yes and a little no.  The thing about money/financial questions is that REALLY are all about self worth.  Worth is worth is worth.

And when we’re challenged about money we’re challenged about our own value.  Our value of course is already infinite.  At least in a Divine sense.  We are made perfect and whole just as we are, so why do we have such a hard time believing that?!

Our stories, our history and our beliefs are the cornerstone for this sense of not-enoughness. That can be hardwired – that we came to Earth in this lifetime to learn to value ourselves so that we can create more value for others.

Heck, there are a lot of people that question my reasoning for doing readings like this on the blog for free.  They insist I mustn’t have enough sense of my own value or else I’d be charging for these readings.  For a long while I believed them and their theories.  Then I realized that was THEIR story.  Not mine.  And I went back to adding value in the way that feels most valuable to me.  (That’s the short version because this reading is all about you, not me. :) )

The thing about wiring is this – your hands change. Every single thing in the palm of your hands (except your fingerprints) can change as you do. So unless it’s your life purpose or your life lesson to learn this value thing – your process for attracting and retaining money may suddenly seem to change overnight.  Right now, without translating your fingerprints, let’s presume that learning to value yourself is a tool for helping you step into your heart’s desire fully.

The lines that are here today may begin to disappear and alter if you start changing your mindset and your habits.  Not easy and it doesn’t happen overnight but it’s possible.  So we can’t fall back on the thought “Oh, I was just made that way,” and let it go as an excuse.

Our birthright is abundance.

Our choice is what abundance means to us.  My definition of abundance is bound to be different from yours, but it doesn’t mean that by me being abundant you will have to have less.  See?!

On both your hands I’ve traced over your Saturn line in blue. On your right hand it’s the only line I’ve marked.

Liz Right Hand

You are right handed so therefore your right hand shows me where you stand in the world – your outer thoughts and actions.  Your Saturn line shows me all things value – time, money, possessions, relationships, etc.

The fact that your Saturn line on your right hand starts from your outer edge of the palm indicates to me that you’re influenced more by your “intuition” or “gut” or spiritual side when it comes to starting projects that are meant to increase value (and your value in the world).  In other words, you may believe you have to wait to be inspired to get started on a project, or you may believe that you were divinely guided to a particular job or career.

All well and good, trusting your inner voice is one true key to success.

The problem is that so many of us are mixed up about what IS the inner voice and what is wishful thinking that we can dork it up.

So  you may find yourself starting out ‘gangbusters’ and then fizzling out when you feel like you’re heart isn’t in the game – ending before the opportunity to hit “pay dirt.”  This could be because you’re disillusioned with the industry, the changes another person recommends or even the unthinking critique of a passer-by.

Liz Left Hand

Part of the money question is here – going back to find out what makes you feel valuable.  Check in with your own guidance and trust it to be right.  And then simply follow through to completion!

Now let’s look at your left hand.

I circled your Saturn line in red and then traced over it in blue.  This is a strong Saturn line.  It starts a little off the center but mostly it’s a good, traditional line.  You start with gusto and clarity when you begin a project (at least in your head and your inner process – your non-dominant hand is about how you see yourself and your visions of where you can go).

This Saturn line follows-through and gets to the end of the line.  What’s interesting is that it does have some stops and starts along the way.

This says to me that when you really have trusted your intuition and done your due diligence completing a project and receiving compensation is easier than you would think.

You may have a tendency to think it was a fluke, that it will never happen again or other self-sabotaging thoughts.  The truth is, it can be that easy.  When you take charge of the process and you shepherd it from beginning to end, trusting your intuition, you can actually make money easily and make contact with people of influence.

You say in your question that you’re working on your money issues – and it appears to be showing up in your non-dominant hand.  Congratulations!  Won’t it be nice when you have that inner and outer thing going together?!

Thanks again for sharing your hands with me Liz – I’m so really delighted to have had a chance to give you a teeny bit of the insight they hold!
