Freckles appear to remind us of something deeply important to our soul’s journey.

They show up to get our attention – even if you rarely look at your hands, odds are good that you’ll  notice a freckle on the palm of your hand.

According to Wikipedia:

Freckles can be found on anyone no matter their genetic background; however, having freckles is genetic and is related to the presence of the dominant melanocortin-1 receptor MC1R gene variant.[2] The formation of freckles is triggered by exposure to sunlight. The exposure to UV-B radiation activates melanocytes to increase melanin production, which can cause freckles to become darker.

Why then, are there freckles that appear on the palm of the hand?

I found a freckle on the palm of my hand while I was in college.  It sat right below the first (Jupiter) finger of my left hand. And it stayed there until I started learning hand analysis not long before my 40th birthday.  I can still see the remnants of it if I look hard enough.

The Jupiter Mount freckle was a reminder to own my own power and to step up to lead on my own terms – both at work and in my personal life.  Jupiter is all about Power, Vision, Leadership, Guidance and Empowerment.

Jupiter is a dominant zone in my hands. I’m also the owner of a Jupiter Star on both hands as well as a Teacher’s box.  When Jupiter’s needs are not being met, the owner of all this “Jupiter energy” can become antagonistic, bombastic, and bossy (among other lovely qualities).  It’s really interesting to me to note that every time we blame someone (or something) else for the issues we’re having in our life, we are giving our power away.

Power give-aways were a way of life for me back then, but I couldn’t see it. Instead my life just seemed full of “shoulds” and “have-tos.”

For example, at the time that I started studying this freckle more closely – after my college career had ended, I truly believed that:

  • I had to work at the soul-sucking job to make money to pay my mortgage for the condo with the moldy closets;
  • I had to work even harder so I could afford to hire a workman to come in and fix said closets;
  • I had to suck up to a boss that was a loser and misogynist because he held the keys to my promotions and my paychecks;
  • I had to deal with the fact that my then-fiance’s ex girlfriends kept calling and showing up at the house because he told me they were just friends and I didn’t want to seem like a psycho;
  • If only my work schedule would cooperate, I could work out more often;
  • I had to ….

You see where this is heading right?

I spent so much time and energy tending to things like those on the list that despite the fancy titles, leadership positions at work, community and volunteer organizations I had virtually NO POWER over my own life.

I was riding a train that never changed the tracks.  Life seemed good on the outside, the scenery was  often gorgeous and although I didn’t think I wanted for anything, I was longing for my power.

After I had my hands read, and started learning to read hands myself, tiny steps were leading to more steps.  I started questioning the shoulds and have-tos and came up with some really out-of-this-world ideas.

Eventually I realized how much power had been given away – I’d always thought of myself as a strong, powerful and independent woman, so it was a big shock to find that I didn’t have any real control about the direction of my life!

As the life learning continued (let’s just say my mind was continually being blown by new ideas, flashes of insight and completely foreign-to-me ways of thinking) the reality sunk in about what it means to be fully in charge of your own life.

My Jupiter Mount freckle appeared while I was in college.  College was a time of significant growth for me (as it is for most, I suspect).  I was simultaneously questioning everything being taught by “the man” and trying to fit in with whom I thought was the cool, avant-garde crowd.

Eventually I tired of working so hard to play by everyone else’s rules and dropped out after 4 + years of mediocre work and energy expended trying to fit a square peg into a round hole (sorry, couldn’t resist the pun.)

The freckle appeared as a sign that claiming my power (not my bossiness) was key to my life’s journey.  I’m humbled to realize that it was nearly 20 years before I began claiming what was rightfully mine.

My Jupiter Mount freckle disappeared as I claimed my power.

Do you have a freckle on the palm of one or both of your hands?  If so, where is it?  Which hand?  When did it appear?  Tell me in the comments!

    Hi Peggy,
Interesting post… I noticed a freckle on the palm of my hand about 5 years ago, and now I have one on the "palm" of my saturn finger… both on the left hand. The first one is between by jupiter finger and my saturn finger (if I have a good palm sketch)… the lines on my hand don't really match up to the lines on any of the charts I have seen… Maybe I should scan it! I have always wondered why they appeared!

    • PeggieArvidson1 March 28, 2011 at 5:13 pm #

      Hey Michelle!

First, yes, you can definitely scan your hands and send them to me. Just follow the instructions in the post here, http://palmistryforhealers.com/2011/03/23/raise-y… from last Wednesday.

Second I know you mention two freckles, but there is only one location? The space between Apollo and Saturn on the palm?

With that said that space is a connection between getting paid for your creativity — it’s like a kick in the bum reminding you to earn right pay for your right work — don’t worry what anyone else has to say about what your work is and how you go about doing it — do it to your best ability with the highest intention to serve and ensure that you receive the right pay for the work you do.

Some challenges can be a) getting paid well for work you don’t love (not right work); or b) spending your time doing what you love but giving it away.

Feel free to send in your hand pics!

    Hey Peggie!

Low on my apollo mount ( ring finger right?) on my left hand I have a faint freckle. I think its kinda new. Funny there also is a freckle on the front side of my right hand right above the apollo knuckle. Mirror images almost.

I think I’m still trying to believe that creativity thing. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr….

    xo

    • PeggieArvidson1 March 29, 2011 at 3:54 pm #

Mari! You are sooo creative. Anyone whose conversed with you or read your blog knows that for sure. Of course, as the story with Jupiter shows, the freckles seem to want to kick us in the arse and remind us to "believe" in ourselves. You know, own our Superpower. Go for it! XO back

I have always had a freckle on my right palm since i was a baby it is below my thumb and in the "venus" spot i think…
i am 27 and about a year ago i developed a new freckle on the my LEFT palm which is at the bottom right side over the "moon" area i think… i dont know much about palm reading but i have always wondered about my freckle and now that i developed a new one on my other had i was kinda interested to see if this meant anything. the one since i was a kid is faded some but still there and my new one is dark and small but staying strong. kinda weird i have freckles on both palms now…. any insight on this would be great

    • PeggieArvidson1 May 24, 2011 at 9:24 am #

Without seeing the freckles myself I’m not able to give you a specific reading however your thumb is all about getting things done. Venus is about play and wonder and awe. and if it’s in the immediate spot/demarcation between the thumb and venus it could have something to do with you needing to “speak up” for yourself. I don’t know if your right hand is your dominant or non-dominant hand – but either way those general guidelines would stay true.

Feel free to follow the instructions on the Raise Your Hand page and submit pictures of your hands for a mini-reading here on the blog!

I have two freckles on my right hand. They have been there for as long as I can remember and have never faded. I have never seen, heard, or read of others like this and I Really want to know what it means.

    • Peggie August 3, 2011 at 3:13 pm #

Without seeing the freckles or knowing precisely where they are – I’m unable to give you any indication of what they mean. (I’m a really good palmist but not so good at remote viewing)

    Hello Peggie,

I have a freckle  bang in the centre of my right palm.  It’s been there for at least a decade and at one time during my twenties it faded, but at the moment i’m 39 weeks pregnant and it’s getting darker and slightly larger.  I’ve always wondered whether it symbolises something as I have the same sort of freckle in the centre of my left foot too!!

    • Peggie August 18, 2011 at 5:16 pm #

Hey there Mertle! Congrats on the little one, btw. Such joy and teaching come in those teeny packages!

Without seeing what lines it’s attached to (or not) it’s hard to give a precise statement about this freckle.

My question would be whether or not you’ve always anticipated a big life change around your 40th year (I have no idea how old you are, so maybe you HAD an event that was life changing around that time?)

The middle of the palm is a sort of subjective thing and I’m really good — but not so good at remote viewing – so therefore I’d need to see a pic to give you some more insight.

You could join my email list and receive a free 15 minute reading and we could talk about it then. :)

And the foot? I don’t know so much about that!

Hello! I have a recently appeared freckle between my heart and head lines/centered between my ring and pinkie finger on my right hand. It appeared rather suddenly and I would appreciate an interpretation. Thank you!

    • Peggie August 17, 2011 at 4:51 pm #

      Hey Sarah! thanks for writing.
You don’t say if you’re right or left hand dominant, so I’m going to assume you’re right hand dominant. (yeah. I know what happens when I assume, but forgive me).

Freckles generally appear as little flashing lights or reminders — trying to call your attention to a lesson you’ve learned or are learning. Or something that will help you move forward. It’s not a gift marking, it’s not a wisdom marker and it’s not there forever.

Given your description (without actually seeing it for myself – you can totally submit a picture for the Raise Your Hand Monthly Series if you want me to see it and give you a fuller description by video), sounds as though you’re having a hard time talking about/owning/making peace with your need for ART, Creativity and spotlight in your life.

If I go with my intuition I’d say you need to add more creativity into your life. Sure, it makes no sense to you logically – but it loosens you up and gives your soul a place to shine, doesn’t it? In doing this you’ll access some of the old wounds you’re carrying around about your relationships – the intention should be to face them, work through them and move on to help others after you’ve resolved what you’ve got goin’ on.

Hope this helps Miss Sarah! Come back anytime

I actually have two freckles on the palm of my left hand, I used to only have the one then the other appeared. One is at the very bottom of my hand in the middle, and the other is a half inch above it in the same spot. I’ve always wondered what they meant…

    • Amini601 August 24, 2011 at 8:03 pm #

And so u kno my life line and fate line meet at the bottom of my left palm and where they meet its just barely to the right and the one above it is in between the two but its a tad closer to my fate line. Thank you!!

      • Peggie August 28, 2011 at 6:49 pm #

Amini – you don’t say if you’re right or left hand dominant and which freckle was first and which was second. I’d have to see the exact location to give you specific-to-you information (feel free to submit a pic of your hands for the Raise Your Hand series) but I’d say there’s a marker there to remind you to make space to let your emotions flow.

        • Amini601 August 31, 2011 at 1:47 pm #

Oh ok the one at the top in between the lines actually came first, and the bottom one came second. Also, I am right handed. Sorry I don’t know if I’m over looking it, but where do I go to submit the picture?

  8. brandy September 17, 2011 at 3:39 am #

i had a freckel on my left pinky in the middle section, which is now fading. and now i have gotten one on my right thumb on the second line. I was also bitten by a dog on my lifeline going up my index finger, and today i cut my lifeline(same hand)  practically in the middle of it’s location. what does it mean?

    • Peggie September 19, 2011 at 2:33 pm #

First – the life line. You don’t say what was happening in your life t the time of the dog bite, nor how old you were. Did it leave a scar? What does it look like? (Feel free to submit your photos to be entered in the monthly Raise Your Hand Series) http://palmistryforhealers.com/learn-palmistry/raise-your-hand/

Did you cut your hand in the middle of the scar from the dog bite? or the middle of the life line?

Freckles will come and go – hanging around long enough to remind us to pay attention. Pinkies are about healing and communication. In fact, it’s impossible for us to heal our old wounds without being willing to communicate with ourselves about our truth.

Thumbs are about getting things done and completing tasks. The key is to ensure that you are focusing on projects that sustain you and are not simply busy work. Additionally be wary of doing things to make others happy – if it has no bearing on your big picture WHY in life.

  9. Almit September 19, 2011 at 12:25 pm #

I have a small freckle under my first finger of my left hand. Only really just appeared.

    • Peggie September 19, 2011 at 2:29 pm #

Very cool. Are you right or left hand dominant. The first finger is all about power and passion.

  10. Lovergaltkc1313 September 22, 2011 at 1:08 pm #

I have three freckles on my left palm in the shape of a triangle . They showed up when I turned thirteen .

  11. MightyHeidi October 6, 2011 at 4:07 am #

Hi there! I have a small, very dark, perfectly flat freckle on my right ring finger. From my perspective–with fingers facing forward–this freckle is on the “top right corner”  of the mid-finger knuckle. It showed up suddenly, just about a week ago.

For what it may help, I am right-handed, and according to a friend who dabbles in palmistry I have a “fire” hand. Hope you could illuminate this for me, a bit!

    Thanks very much! :)

    • Peggie October 12, 2011 at 2:17 pm #

Is the freckle on the inside of the palm or the outside?
Apollo (ring) finger is all about creativity, spotlight and facing your fears of rejection. Are you turning down opportunities to shine in your every day life (usually at work or school)?

  12. Kdunbar October 22, 2011 at 8:54 pm #

I have a freckle right on my life line of my left hand. It is at the very top of my hand, almost right below my index finger. I am right handed. Any ideas on what this could mean?

    • Peggie October 24, 2011 at 12:46 pm #

It could be a call for you to own your power, instead of playing “second fiddle” to everyone else’s needs and wants. Usually this is in work, but it could be at home an in your community as well. Take some time to think about what’s been happening lately — are you standing your ground and stating your position?

  13. aimhigh October 23, 2011 at 10:54 pm #

A freckle appeared two days ago in the center of my right palm.
it is right at the inner corner (thumb side) of my fate line and my head line.
Can you give me some insight into the meaning of this?

    • Peggie October 24, 2011 at 12:44 pm #

Audrey — I would have to see to give you any meaningful insight of course. What many people believe to be a fate (Saturn) line is sometimes a spoke of another line and that would definitely change what the meaning may be.

The middle of the palm is often where we hold our sadness. It’s possible that you are in the middle of a large transition. And as much as you’re thinking about it being the “right” thing, you’re not allowing yourself the opportunity to mourn the no. Spend some time in peace and quiet and allow all your emotions to flow. Even the most wonderful changes require us to let go of things. Anytime we let go, we should honor the thing we’re releasing.

  14. Kellmo October 25, 2011 at 2:29 am #

I have identical freckles on the palms of both hands. If I line up my hands it’s like I was split in two. They are near the bottom of my life line on the right and left like twins same spot same size and color on the not thumb side. Make sense? I’m from a strong lineage does it mean strength?

    • Peggie October 25, 2011 at 10:50 am #

Kellmo — As always, the only true way to get accurate guidance is for me to see your hands. (Feel free to submit them as part of the Raise Your Hand Series -it’s free) (you can do that here: http://palmistryforhealers.com/readings/raise-your-hand/) You say that they are “near the bottom of my life line” on both your right and left hands. You also note that you’re from a “strong lineage”

Near is not particularly effective for me — seeing precisely where markings are is a key to accurate insight. It’s also important for a trained eye to be able to see/note any other lines or marks that may be nearby. Generally your life line shows how grounded you are in the life you’re living right now. It, along with everything else in the palm, can and will change throughout your life on Earth. The lower level of the lifeline can show some trauma or early responsibility in your life. This may be the meaning– you’re saying to yourself “If i could make it through THAT I can make it through anything” As far as being on both hands — it’s that your inner and outer worlds are in alignment – at least about this situation.

Finally – I find that all of us who have made it to Earth have a strong enough lineage to have gotten here. Weak lineages would have died out and have no one to represent them here on the planet.

I have a small dark freckle on my left palm right at the bottom left corner below my thumb, only had it a few months, I’m 26 wot could this mean? Thanks

    • Peggie November 16, 2011 at 4:37 pm #

I’d really have to see it to give you an accurate appraisal. In GENERAL though, thumbs are about getting things done. The lower third of thumb is about using your voice to tell your truth in the world — speaking your truth out loud — the stuff that scares you most — that if someone who was your friend found out, they wouldn’t be your friend anymore kind of stuff. (That’s where healing begins by the way). Below the third zone of thumb – the fleshy part – represents letting your heart in to your “story” Compassion for yourself and others would be imperative here. Also let yourself find time to play. Don’t be the cynic, be the kid at heart.

  16. Meagan December 24, 2011 at 6:07 pm #

I have a tiny freckle on my mount of Venus on my left hand. It appeared a few months ago. I thought it was strange, since I ended a really long term relationship about six months ago and left home to travel. On my travels, I ran in to an old friend that I’ve known since high school in Washington where he was living for the summer and working on an organic farm. We spent the night out on the farm together and it was just incredibly romantic. I left a few days later to fly to Arizona, which is where I noticed my freckle.  We kept in touch, and when I was back in Texas he asked me to come back out to Seattle to meet him (he was in NoCo) and take a really long bus trip through the Rockies back home for the holidays. Of course I did. We spent a week vagabonding it in Seattle, and on the bus ride home (which was BEAUTIFUL) I noticed that he also has a freckle on his mount of Venus, but on the right hand. I feel like my freckle is to remind me to be true, not to withdraw or be guarded. I have a tendency to play games and deliberately push people away, and I think this is telling me just to let myself be open to new possibilities and not be afraid, because even though getting hurt is scary, we as human beings are emotionally resilient. I don’t know about our matching freckles, and I don’t know where this is headed (hopefully to more travels and less one night stands with a beautiful hippie boy), but all signs point to yes. :D

    • Peggie January 5, 2012 at 6:46 pm #

oh sweet Meagan — you already have your own best answers…if you’re having fun and being true to the REAL you — rock on, if not, ask yourself why you’re on the move…

  17. Tiffany January 3, 2012 at 9:45 pm #

I have a freckle on my left hand, showed up out of nowhere about a year and a half ago.  It is between my middle and ring finger, on one of the “pads” between my palm and the base of my fingers.  Would love to know what this means if anything!

    • Peggie January 5, 2012 at 6:45 pm #

would really have to see it and both your hands to give any accurate insight. as always, would love to hear what YOU think it means. Your middle (Saturn) finger is about time/value/money/worth and your ring finger is about creativity and spotlight. Your dominant hand represents you “in the world – how you’re seen and how you want to be seen/assume you’re being seen.” Your non-dominant hand is the inner you.

  18. Fanpire4twilight January 4, 2012 at 10:14 pm #

I have a freckle on my pointer finger of my left hand on the top left side of the bottom sector. What does this mean?

    • Peggie January 5, 2012 at 6:43 pm #

I’d have to see the actual freckle and a pic of both your hands to give you any real insight. More importantly though, what do YOU think it means? Pointer fingers (Jupiter) are all about power.

  19. poetnknowit January 24, 2012 at 12:35 am #

on the upper part of my pinky above the joint…i share a freckle with someone…well i believe to be a very close friend..words cant explain yet it was all in the eyes and energy.
It will most certainly not be forgotten.

im almost dead set (until i hear his words) that we have shared another life together..
but lately i look at it, and get weary, its odd how spiritual the connection feels.
some things cant be explained yet. All i know is that there is strange coincedences and dreams being had on my side.
    ITS NOT ME

    all i KNOW
is that im not the same without him…
Ive never said that and meant it on a profound level

  20. Daubin915 January 25, 2012 at 9:53 pm #

I have a freckle on the mount just under my pinky on my left hand and one on the side (pinky side) of my right palm. What do these mean? I’ve had them since birth.

  21. Claire March 18, 2012 at 11:30 am #

    Hi Peggie

I have a fairly prominent mount of Venus. About two years ago as I started travelling as a step to take more controll over the direction of my life a large vein rose in the left hand (my writing hand). It’s isn’t coloured but is very prominent and pulsates (not all the time). I was told this means my mount of Venus is maturing.

Around this time I started to teach myself to paint for the first time. A year later I took up painting lessons for a few months and at the start of this time a freckle appeared close to the life line half way down the mount of Venus. Over 6 months on I am still paintingbut have just taken up guitar for the first time…at the same time suddenly annother freckle has poped up on the mount of Venus further down and further left. This strikes me as way too coincidental (not a believer in coincidences) as was hopeing to have some light shed as to what there freckles mean. any help yould be greatly appreciated!!

    Many thanks

    Claire

    • Peggie April 4, 2012 at 2:43 pm #

      Claire

Interesting that you’re so drawn to your Mount of Venus. It is one of the mounts that I see quick changes in – one day it’s depleted another it’s plump. In my work I see an overly full (as compared to everything else in both your hands) Mount of Venus as an indicator of over-indulgence in “feel good” activities as a way to block out “reality.” A well-developed mount of Venus will indicate that you have a good grasp of when to work and when to play – when to treat yourself and when to take action to make the treats become long-term reality.

Freckles show up as markers – to draw your attention to a particular area – and they will go away too. My experience has been that they are reminding us to “step up” and “clear out” what needs to be cleared in order to move more effectively into our purpose. They often can be tied to your life lesson as well.

So, I agree with you – there are no coincidence – and freckles ALWAYS have meaning on the palms of our hands.

Without seeing your hands, knowing your fingerprint translations or seeing precisely where the freckles are, it’s hard to give you a definitive idea of what YOUR freckles mean -which is why I gave you a general overview.

I’m curious as to what you WISH they mean and how you see the freckles, your travels, your new artistic pursuits and your Mount of Venus as related. There is a subtle nuanced difference between Venus and Apollo in my work – which is how I’d usually identify artistic endeavors (via Apollo – not Venus). It’s definitely a subtle thing though.

What I know for sure is that my clients know themselves well – they have reasons and suspicions about things on their hands and I enjoy exploring further with them during our sessions.

Sometimes though, we do often neglect our inner knowing and lean into what we HOPE is a “sign”…so it would be hard to go deeper based on the short description!

      Peace,
      Peggie
